What We Do

We send our highly trained staff into Orphanages to provide regular fun aerobic classes to increase children’s physical fitness. We provide education on the health benefits of sports and recreational activities. We also provide training for their staff so that they can keep the aerobic classes going once the setup is complete. After our sports program is up and running, we will then provide the staff with ongoing support to keep the children interested.

Generally our classes will last approximately 1 hour for one group but can do two groups at one visit if there are too many children.

How Orphanages Benefit

  1. Provides children with dedicated time for physical activity with an experienced trainer.
  2. The children can feel the benefits of increased physical fitness
  3. Provides a fun way to exercise and in a group of peers
  4. The children can learn about the benefits sports and recreational activities
  5. Our sports programs are designed to involve both girls and boys
  6. Children that have shown potential maybe be selected for further specialized training

Benefits of Regular Physical Activity

The American Heart Association recommends:

“All children age 2 and older should participate in at least 30 minutes of enjoyable, moderate-intensity physical activities every day that are developmentally appropriate and varied.”

If a child is exercising and being active here are just some of the benefits they can enjoy;

  • Stronger muscles and bones
  • A leaner body because exercise helps control body fat
  • Less likely to become overweight (being overweight as a child can lead to further psychological problems e.g. low self esteem)
  • Decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes
  • Lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels
  • Reduced risk of premature death
  • Reduce levels of anxiety, and overall improvement in mood
  • Development of physical fitness
  • Forms positive habits which will see children look at physical activity as a daily part of their life and carry this into adult hood.
  • Increased physical fitness will allow children to enjoy participating in all sports

Trailblazing Olympics Dec 2009

On December 13th 2009, CSAP (Cambodia Sports Angel Project) organized a 'Trailblazing Olympics'. 3 different orphanages took part in the fun and games, with invaluable contribution and leadership from the Singapore Team.

Squeals of delight and laughter from the children were abundant on this special day. They all did amazingly well in the events, taking on the 3 legged race and egg and spoon race with great gusto! For many of the children this was their first opportunity to participate in team sports and individual events, and many of the activities were completely new to them, something easy for us to take for granted.

Once again One-2-One, on behalf of all the children would like to extend a special thank you to the Singapore Team, under the leadership of Dr Charlotte Lim and Yan. A lot of effort and love went into organizing this event, and a truly memorable day was created for the children who enjoyed themselves immensely. They were positively glowing from the fun!
